Gregg said the event, which attracted more than 175 attendees from across the state and region in 2011, will bring together West Virginia's bioscience community - private companies, university researchers, suppliers and funders - as well as policy and opinion leaders, economic developers and others to learn more about how to successfully grow and nurture the industry. The biosciences comprise biotechnology and life science companies and biomedical research entities.
Additionally, Bryan Brown has been named executive director of the Association. Brown, along with his father – John Brown – operate a public affairs firm in Charleston. The two were intimately involved in the formation of the Bioscience Association of West Virginia in 2009.
Gregg said, “While the Bioscience field is growing in West Virginia, it is largely unknown to the general public and many important constituent groups. Bryan will work to promote the bioscience industry in the state, expand the knowledge and expertise of West Virginia’s businesses related to the life sciences, and enhance public awareness of the industry in West Virginia. We are excited to bring him on board.”
